I had originally stopped buying Lanessan after 2014. But, then I tasted the 2019…fantastic!! In my opinion the 2019 will turn out as good as any of the past greats. Of course, I loaded up!
Even more thread drift, I was thinking last night about my dads cellar (this is over 30ish years pre 2005). It was fundamentally corner stoned by cases and cases of Lanessan, Charmail, Chasse Spleen, and Meyney,
Actually very nice right out of the gate on PnP, probably the Venturi helped.
I‘m still rather clunky on expressing my tasting but its squarely in the more traditional Bordeaux style me and my wife like and have been looking for getting back into Bdx, so again my thanks are going to Orlando for this
Apparently, I long ago purchased, and then forgot about, a case of the 2014. The retailer just nudged me with a “well, we’re waiting” email and the bottles are on the way.
I am sure no one else here has ever bought a case of wine and then forgotten all about it for years
Updating on my ´20 Lanessan on day 2, its getting there nicely … gained some rounded Bdx taste from day 1, on which it was quite tannic, but not in a bad way.
Nice floral nose and red/black currant mid palate, med/full body - happy for my case of ´20 supposed to come in on monday. This will be stored away and the case of ´14s drunk before getting to the ´19s & ´20s. Incredible value and QPR at 13.5€ per. For europe its still avaiable at Millesima @ 15€ (BF had a 10% off coupon). @Robert.A.Jr should be getting kickbacks from Lanessan, thanks again Alfert. And no, I would definitely not put this in the modern, overoaked, overextracted camp.
