  • 1999 Araujo Estate Syrah Eisele Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/21/2009)
    Popped, decanted for sediment, then consumed over 2 hours. Leather, floral, white pepper, cedar, coffee nose. Vibrant fruit, smoked meat flavors dominate. Extremely well balanced, elegant and smooth. Very complex and long finish. It would be interesting to taste this blind against some top Cornas and Hermitage, as the style is more in line with the Northern Rhone than it is with California syrah. A lovely treat.
