TN: 1998 Togni Estate Cabernet

A classic Napa Cabernet that I fear I drank too young, surprising for a 1998. Superb aromatics of green pepper, smoke and brambly dark red fruit lead into full and round, mid-weight Cali Cab flavors.

Didn’t bother decanting this with pizza, just a pop n pour. I’d never have guessed this was a 1998 by its color or how superbly it drank. I’d continue to hang onto these if I had more, no decline in sight. Thanks to whomever dumped this on WineBid for a song!

Great note, Peter, thanks! I’ve got to drink more Togni. The three I’ve had have all been extremely good. My favorite was 2001, followed by 1994, then 1997, but I’d be happy to drink any of those again any time. Sounds like even 1998 has solid staying power.
