TN: 1998 Rene Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Côte Blonde

  • 1998 Rene Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Côte Blonde - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie (11/26/2009)
Decanted into wide bottomed, ship’s decanter 2 hours before seeving. At first, a little disjointed with lots of in your face, cherry cola fruit and masses of overly sweet caramel. With some further time in the glass, the wine started to come together and the excessive sweetness began to recede a little, leaving a lovely core of red fruits, a little grenache-like herbaceous spiciness and some fine, focused tannins on the finish. Just entering it’s prime time drinking and well worth trying. (94 pts.)

Great wine, and overshadowed by the 1999.
