TN: 1998 R. López de Heredia Gravonia

Stunning value @ $23.

One of the more interesting and complex whites I’ve ever tasted. There’s honey, orange rind, almonds and minerality on the nose - but this really shines in the mouth, with an intensification of the aforementioned components.

Expansive and nuanced from the attack through the finish. Mouthcoating yet precise. Takes hold of your palate with intense grip from the first sip and doesn’t let go, with citrus (lemon and orange rind) and honey just riding along a crest of acidity. Still very young - this is one to seek out.

Went so well with Chilean Sea Bass, just slicing right through the richness of the fish. I never thought white wine could hit such high notes.

Slicing through - love it…

The influence of a certain neighbor of yours is catching up with you…

The acidity cuts or slices through the rich sea bass. That’s fo’ real, yo. Not some freaky deaky metaphor!

By the way, there is ZERO oxidative/sherry notes here for the record.

What’s the kirsch like?

It’s got to be out of this WORLD for me to even consider it.

Isnt kirsch just blackberry liqueur?

Kirsch is life.

We’ve got a bottle of this from '94 that I’ve never quite figured out what to do with. Good to know that it’s not necessarily completely over the hill.
