TN: 1998 Doisy Daene

From a 375ml, purchased for roughly 13 GBP at Lea and Sandeman’s.

Consumed last night alongside some gorgeous foie gras, and very very gently toasted Briocche, which was also excellent.

Opened for about 45 minutes prior to serving, the '98 Double D was a light brown/deep yellow color. The nose started with a bit of alcohol, but it blew off and gave way to brown sugar, and lightly candied tropical fruits.

Decent weight in the mouth, but perhaps a bit too soft, without being particularly sweet. Not flabby…but just missing a little botrytis it seemed. Finishes gently, not too cloying, but with just a little kiss.

88-89 points.

Not a re-buy, but it was an excellent pairing (the foie gras totally stole the show).
