Regular villages, not the 1er Cru.
This bottle is shrooming on top of an iron ore mine.
Strong and intriguing truffle essence combines with a touch of oak spice, layered on top of the cherry fruit that tends toward black on the nose. An iron ore/mineral beam really provides a firm/grippy edge to the tangy attack, deepening with air - though the tannin is evident on the finish. What began as a decent wine with a beguiling bouquet has found structure over the course of an hour.
I would definitely decant this for an hour before drinking. Will be interesting to see what happens with the tannins here, the bottle seems pretty darn open bouquet and mid-palatewise, but it just doesnt want to relent on the back end.
