1998 Clarendon Hills Grenache Old Vines Blewitt Springs - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Clarendon (11/14/2009)
A little sulphur on the nose. Lovely light red color, transparent at the rim. Deep, dark, sweet cherry fruit. Only beginning to show some tertiary development. This has firm tannins with balancing acidity on the finish. Better with food. Not as showy as the 1998 Greenock Creek Cornerstone Grenache I had earlier this week. This doesn’t have the menthol/eucalyptus that the Greenock Creek had, but it is more complex overall. (93 pts.)
