1998 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (3/12/2011)
Last bottle of 6 drunk through the last several years. Though all of them were good, I think was the best of them.
Open about 2 hours, not decanted. Sweet black cherry & tobacco nose, a hint of molasses. Open for business, medium-full body, nice length, black currant & cherry fruit in the front, more tobacco in the backend, some structure, very fine, dusty tannins, nice medium finish. Solid wine that IMHO is at it’s peak. 1/3 of the bottle left for the next day held up nicely. (92 pts.)
