1998 Château Couhins-Lurton Blanc - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan (6/30/2009)
Gloriously complex bouquet, combining orange blossom, honeysuckle, caramel and bananas coated in butterscotch. Medium bodied, with lively acidity raking the tongue before fanning out on an orange/citrus cream finish. Easily the best sauvignon blanc I’ve tasted. All of the flavors are detailed, but fat and dense in covering the palate. A real treat with a shrimp dish.
I love white BDX, sounds nice
I think it was like $30 from Crush?
I got some of this - the first bottle was complete rubbish. Really nasty sherried nose and a horrible mushroomy taste. Down the sink with it!
Second bottle, opened on Thursday and finished over the weekend, was much better. Got the caramel and butterscotch. Nice and refreshing and a good summer drink. Lets see how the other four are.
Cheers

Wow - didn’t get any sherry, sounds like an oxidised bottle.
Agreed. Shot to bits. The odd thing is I had a similar experience with a 99 Laville within the past couple of months. When older white Bords are on, they’re outstanding, but my goodness, when they’re off…
