TN: 1998 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis

  • 1998 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (7/2/2013)
Nose: Very perfumed and nuanced nose with pretty tones of wild flowers, rose petals, roasted herbs, red cherries, and hi-tones spices notes.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with noticeable medium/high acidity and silky tannins. The feel is nice and refined with well balanced tones of rose petals, roasted herbs, strawberries, red cherries, and some incense on the back end.

Overall: This is a lovely barolo. It shows the class and elegance of the vintage as well as the producer. This is in a nice spot right now, but can certainly age further. (92 pts.)

Cavallotto with their middle of the road approach seems to do well in warm vintages, 2000 San Giuseppe Riserva is a compelling wine, and the 07 version is most promising.

this wine brings back fond memories. I think the 1996 vintage was the last one I had. Thanks for sharing.
