TN: 1997 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie

  • 1997 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie (8/29/2009)
stunningly pure and classic cote-rotie; bacon, olive and salt water on the nose. the fruit is in between primary and secondary. takes a while for the wild raspberries to come out, but even when the fruit comes forward, it is fighting the minerality and bacon. a very good vintage that i think will always be a little rustic. NB: throwing tons of fine sediment, so best to stand up for 24 hours in advance. (92 pts.)

Nice to hear, Came across a btl of this. Have had the '97 Belle Helene which is actually very similar and requires about a 3 hr decant before the magic happens. How’s the '99?

99 belle Helene is out of this world. And drinking well now. Had it two to three weeks ago
