TN: 1997 Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin Domaine Louis Jadot

  • 1997 Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin Domaine Louis Jadot - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru (2/7/2026)
Double decanted about an hour before. Just delicious. Some tertiary notes but plenty of deep vibrant fruit, showing off the old vines. Plenty of life left; too bad I don’t own any more.

Thanks for the note… I have one bottle of this left (last tried in 2018. I think I have a Clos de Beze and a couple 1er Gevrey too. I bought circa a case of 1997 Jadot b/c I remember word was that they outperformed the vintage

great era for Jadot. Love the 97’s in particular.

This exact wine, probably 15 years ago at this point, was one of the first special burgs I’d ever had. Big sous bois and mushroom notes with bright red cherry fruit, just absolutely seared into my mind. Was shared with me at a get together at Grailey’s when the new location in the Design District had only just opened. Oddly, though I’ve had many “better” wines, it’s a wine I’ll never forget. Funny how that works. Cool seeing a note, Maureen. Cheers.
