On release this was BIG. Seven years ago it was a tough as nails. I needed something to pair with a weber roasted rack of pork, spied this and thought, what the heck!
Now showing tertiary scents, mixed with beef stock, herbs and dark, brooding fruits. In the mouth it is now finally quite approachable, with sweet, teeth coating brambly fruits. The (oak derived?) tannins are marginally coarse and still a feature of the finish, but the fatty exterior of the swine make this a rather tasty drink, showing serious power and presence, despite its 15 years.
very nice, and will probably leave my remaining bottles for a few years.
Cheers,
Kent
