TN: 1997 Azelia Barolo Bricco Fiasco (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo)

Effusive but not quite as explosive as the 96 or 98. Perfume, roses, balsam, tar, dried fruits. Showing the vintage with a muscular palate that is big and slightly coarse with some angular tannin. Decent length finish. This is a pretty good but far from great wine, and though it’s in keeping with the vintage, in the grand scheme of this bottling from this producer, relatively weak for my tastes.

What was the fruit and acid profile like? Too bad about the tannins.
