TN: 1997 Albino Rocca Barbaresco Vigneto Brich Ronchi

  • 1997 Albino Rocca Barbaresco Vigneto Brich Ronchi - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (1/9/2010)
nose: lovely and intoxicating nose with lots of fresh tones of berries, wild flowers, dark red cherries, herbs, and bits of spice and violets. Excellent layering on the nose that just seems to go on and on

taste: beautiful medium feel with good tannins and medium/high acidity. Lovely and succulent tones of violets, dark red cherries, fresh picked berries, and wild flowers. Comes off as still very primary still, but starting to round into form

overall: Comes off as starting to enter its window. This was a pop n pour and it was drank over several hours. Had a real vibrant dark redish/purple to it and it just sang out of the glass right away (93 pts.)

Pop and pour- beautiful and deep nose of herbs, black cherries, plums, and tar.
Still very young on the palate but approachable-nice acidity, plums, and cherries, leather, and asphalt into a nice med. finish. The nose on this was rocking right out of the bottle. (93 pts.)

Wow, lots of good Nebbiolo being poured around here these days.

I know I had some Albino Rocca, I will have to go downstairs and check…

I think I need to hire some kid to put all my wines into Cellar Tracker, except I don’t know when I bought them or where or what any of them cost at the time. And I probably won’t write tasting notes when I drink them…

But at least I would know what I’ve got.
