1996 Mario Marengo Barolo Brunate - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (2/13/2012)
nose: pretty and well balanced nose of roses, roasted herbs, dark red cherries, tar, a hint of leather, and some berries with a touch of incense. Very perfumed and engaging on the nose
taste: medium bodied with good supporting tannins and medium+ acidity. Very well balanced and silky right now with the acidity being in check. Pretty with polished tones of roasted herbs, tar, dark red cherries, incense and a touch of tobacco+leather
overall: this was decanted for about 90 minutes. Has a bit of browning at the rim, but not all that much. This is in a real lovely place right now and is a pleasure to drink (92 pts.)
