1996 Marcarini Barolo La Serra - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (9/5/2013)
Nose: Very pretty and feminine with roses, red fruits, roasted herbs, wild flowers, and red cherries. The tones seem to waft out of the glass along with nice layering.
Taste: Medium bodied with some chewy tannins and medium/high acidity. The 96 acidic streak certainly shows with balanced tones of roses, red cherries, some tar, wild flowers, and incense. The mid-palate is lacking slightly, but the feel is very pretty and refined.
Overall: The nose is very gorgeous and on the more nuanced side. The palate is lacking a slight bit, but this is a very pretty wine that has some maturity to it. (91 pts.)
