1996 Klein aux Vieux Remparts Riesling Burgreben - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (6/29/2009)
Consistent over two nights. Slatey slightly diesel laden lime nose. Palate is on the austere side with strong lime acidity and a bit of minerals. Strong acidity and very dry but lacking fruit to match the acidity. This was probably the best of the goes I’ve had with this wine but is still lacking. Not enough fruit to have it live this long for me though there is some dry Riesling fans out there that will dig it.

A Garagiste wine and not one of Rimmerman’s finest moments. At $10 I would be less worried but at nearly $20 I expected something better. Has shown consistently over a couple bottles and tastes of others.
Thanks, Chris. I have a few of these lined up; sounds like weeknight wine.
Just popped one of these last night. Here’s my TN:

1996 Klein aux Vieux Remparts Riesling Burgreben - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (7/8/2009)
Medium lemon color. Bright, Riesling nose of apple skin, rye bread and wildflowers. Very subtle and pretty on the nose. On the palate the acid is out of whack. It’s like drinking slightly watered down lemon juice. Bone dry. It does have some persistence; medium bodied. As would be expected, this goes significantly better with food than by itself. (87 pts.)

Thanks for the follow up Douglass. I think this needs a heavy fatty cream sauce dish to handle all the acid.
It went pretty well with Thai, and although ours lacked it, I think any sauce with coconut milk would work …
