TN: 1996 Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers

Nice wine Fri night. I’ve yet to meet a '96 I haven’t liked in the past year or so…

Beautiful aged Pinot nose. Funky and earthy. Tight initially, almost in a dumb phase. Needs some time to wake up. When it does, there’s tart cherry fruit that’s rather lush, full on the palate. Some acid still. Drinking well now. __

Hey, Dennis, thanks for posting this in the Chambolle thread as well. Did you so excess oak in this wine. I do in a lot of the Groffier wines I’ve had, but not in others. Don’t think I ever tasted this one.

There was some sweet oak notes to the finish, but in no way would I levy an “oaky” charge on this. I know some find this with Groffier.
I am becoming increasingly averse to oak, and the oak here was not an issue. Cheers.
