TN: 1996 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots

  • 1996 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (11/20/2010)
Library wine purchased a week ago. Popped and poured, served at cellar temperature. Dark ruby color, not much bricking at all. Nose was immediate and lovely, revealing fresh blackberry and earth scents along with mineral and tea notes. Iron-inflected black fruits showing powerfully on the palate supported by structured tannins and enlivened by bracing acidity throughout each sip. Finish long and ringing, dominated by mineral and ending with a sweet grippy lash of black raspberry. That structure and acidity predmominate in this wine is perhaps not surprising, but on this showing the fruit prevails as well. Many years left. (92 pts.)
