TN: 1996 Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, California, Napa Valley)

1996 Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/18/2010)
Light crimson colored with faint edges, but no sign of aging. The nose has some woodiness and some cellar floor. A hint of pine and some faint black cherry with dried flowers. The palate has some red fruit of cherries, plums and red currant. Ther over-all mouth feel is medium weight with some good acidity. A decent finish, but the cellar floor quality keeps me from acclaiming wine of the day…

After a few hours this has opened up nicely. A real bordeaux drinkers cabernet. Some secondaries of cedar, leather, soy and graphite (lead pencil shavings). I was a bit rough on this, more than I should have been. For these reasons I have upgraded to 89. Its gotten very pretty and very balanced. Seemed to slp to a little lighter in style. Overall pretty nice. 89 points

Thanks for the note. Considered getting some of this with last week’s WTSO offer. I was curious about how it would taste.
