TN: 1995 Mastroberardino Taurasi Radici

Leather, flowers, and earthy somethingness on the nose. Similar notes on the palate, with fading fruit and some bottle sweetness, but residual acidity throws the whole thing out of balance. Overall, pretty tired and not what it was 2-3 years ago. Clearly on the decline, glad this was our last bottle.

I drank my two bottles in 06 and found both fully mature. The first was like yours – sort of tired. The second seemed younger and more tannic. I gave the second an 88. I had a 99 more recently that was quite disappointing, so I’m not going out my way to buy these now.

I thought this said something completely different when I read the subject!

Funny. I had never even heard of this wine until Saturday night.

We had the '03 off the wine list at Lucca in Boston. It was drinking young, but quite approachable and tasty.
