TN: 1995 Malvira' Roero Superiore (Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Roero Superiore)

This bottle is showing better than the last - the fruit is a bit brighter, yet still obviously aged and ripe. I’m getting a nice spice and anise component on the nose as well - smells much like a fuller bodied Nebbiolo. On the palate, this still has a nice acidic grip to it, and some very dusty tannins toward the back end. Finish falls a bit, and is quite short, but overall the wine is quite enjoyable for an easy-drinking vintage Italian red. (90 pts.)

Interesting note, thanks. Recent purchase?

Yes, a Garagiste buy from the Spring, I believe. I have two bottles of the '96 which apparently are still ready for some cellar time if needed, whereas the '95’s are ready to go, for certain. I can’t see much more development (positive development, that is) on this wine.

Those guys make ASTOUNDING Arneis…
