Popped and poured with lamb that had been marinated 24 hours in garlic, olive oil, herbs and a bit of red wine vinegar.
Fragrant , deep red fruit with a hint of bramble and a very slight hint of smoke and meat. Transparent palate that shows the flavors apparent on the nose with nice, bracing acids. Lovely alone, lovely with the lamb. The color id still a deep red-purple. Certainly open and ready, this isn’t even close to fully mature. Drink or hold.
Good old Chianti can be just lovely. And Felsina is a favorite.
Thanks for the note.
Great note, thanks!
I had the 97 of this wine awhile back and it was downright delicious, and in such a great place right now. Wine Exchange still has a bunch of the 97 as well as the 95 Rancia.
I have some Rancia around and should try it (some Fontalloro too). The 97 Fontalloro is lovely right now too. I put half the bottle in a 375 in the fridge when I opened this… i’ll update the note if there’s much change
