Now that I can find things in my recently reorganized cellar, I often look over my wine list in search of things that may be heading for old age and need drinking. I found most of a case of this wine, which I’d gone through more than a case of in past years, and thought I’d better check it out.
Still dark, it has a dark fruit nose with briary garrigue and hints of animal/barnyard, and earth. The tannins are resolved and the entry is sweet with a delightful fruit driven mid palate and a long smooth finish.
One of those wines that just does everything right – to the degree that She-who-must-be-obeyed asked if she could put the rest of the case in her section of the cellar, which she almost never does.
Obviously needs drinking up, but should provide much enjoyment over the next 2-3 years.
