1995 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Clos du Bourg - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray (12/10/2017)
Found this tucked away in the cellar and had fond memories of the last bottle. This one did not disappoint! Beautiful yellow gold in color, with no sediment. We have a quince tree, and the nose on this wine is just like the blossoms, along with honeysuckle. We took a chance with a simple PnP, and it was fine on the first sip at 55F–no need to decant. Sweet but not cloying, with bright acidity. Strong notes of candied apple , citrus, and honey. I’m not really a fan of petrol notes in wines like this, but this one has just a hint of fuel on the finish that delivers one last bit of fun before it goes down the hatch. Crazy great pairing with fresh hot popcorn, a smoked white cheddar, and a few small slices of truffled Gouda. Perfect late afternoon snack on a sunny but chilly Winter day. (95 pts.)
