TN: 1995 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes

Very nice '95 the other night from HN.

Drinking quite nicely. Lovely sous bois nose that is autumnal and inviting. Silky and precise red fruit with some back side tart acid. Tightens a wee bit on the finish. Not yet totally there, but still quite nice and tasty with my simple pizza.

Nice job Dennis.
I really do think some of the 95’s are finally turning the corner. This has been a difficult vintage to assess in the past.

Thanks, Dennis. I really love Les Charmes, and really love Hudelot-Noellat, but I have never had a Charmes from H-N. I own the 2005, but will be a long wait to sample it, I fear.

Thanks guys.
Lew-I’m becoming a fan of HN big time.
I don’t envy the wait on '05s, though I’m in the same boat a good bit, too.

Nice note Dennis–I think Hudelot-Noellat is a real quiet achiever in Burgundy, and their Chambolle-Musigny village wine in most years is good value at $40-50. I hope to meet Alain in May when we visit Burgundy.

Thanks for the note. Count me in as a fan as well, the 96’s are great. BH for those who read his notes is drawing greater attention to this domaine, lets hope with little influence… Cheers Mike

Thanks Jim.
Almost pulled the trigger on the '09 Chambolle Village at $50 the other day, probably will eventually.
Cheers.
