Another excellent '94 last night.
Love these wines.
1994 R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Bosconia- Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja (8/26/2014)
There are nuanced and delicate aromas of flowers and earthy fruit. Palate is shows some seemingly primary red fruit that coats the palate. More fruit presence than I expected; yet, it’s delicate, silky, and weightless and buffered by an acid streak that keeps things in frame. Long finish. No rush to drink. Beautiful wine.
I visited this winery more or less by accident 2 years ago. It was not until afterward that I learned that the red and white wines have a huge following among wine geeks.
The state of the cellars has to be seen to be believed.
The absolute antithesis of California or the Barossa.
Cobwebs, barrels re-used for God knows how many years, etc.
