TN: 1994 Domaine Tempier Bandol Cuvée Spéciale Cabassaou (France, Provence, Bandol)

Opened this with some trepidation as I think Bandol needs about 20 years bottle age to be at its best.

A beautifully mature nose of black fruit, pepper and cloves… The palate is quite sweet still, and there is great balance. Quite vibrant acidity with firm tannins, and you can taste strawberries and game.An unlikely combination perhaps but somehow it works!! But what a beautiful mouthfeel.Really lovely texture and a long finish.Really opened up into a glorious wine and I wish I had the patience to spend a few hours with it. Excellent and may prove to be outstanding in another 10 years or so but it will be difficult to keep the remaining bottles that long.
Bravo—Bandol rocks!! and a steal at the price nice Paul sold them to me ,especially as it is not possible to buy this vintage in the UK anymore (92 pts.)
