TN: 1992 Muller-Catoir Mussbacher Eselhaut Rieslaner Auslese

1992 Muller-Catoir Mussbacher Eselhaut Rieslaner Auslese
Bronze in color, though that’s no shock for a Rieslaner. The aromatics ran to fresh orange peel, spice and something reminiscent of horseradish. Only moderately sweet after 19 years, it was quite refreshing and even more delicious as it warmed up. A very nice showing for a wine from a less well regarded (read: overlooked) vintage.

Interesting. I am kind of surprised it has lasted this long. I think of 1992 as a softer vintage that drank well earlier but did not age that well and I think of Muller-Catoir wines also as wines to be drunk relatively young. I guess the Rieslaner acidity trumps all.
