TN: 1992 Chateau Souverain Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker's Reserve

  • 1992 Chateau Souverain Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker’s Reserve - USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley (1/18/2010)
One of my all-time favorite wines…period! One of the first “must have” wines in my collection back in the mid 90’s…this is the next to last bottle I have left, and it has NEVER BEEN BETTER! Dark dark plum color, rich nose of leather, plum/cherry, cedar, mocha. Throwing tons of sediment…I can see why…this wine is dense! Rich and creamy dark berry fruit(currant, plum, black cherry, boysenberry) framed by wonderful aged leather(almost bretty, in a good way), toasted vanilla oak barrel, clove spice, some dried green herbs, dusty cedar. Still sweet and loaded with character…even has some tannic bite to it, as well as some uplifting sour skin acidity. Can’t believe how young and rich this wine is at age 18??? Best wine Chateau Souverain has even produced imo! Still drinking well… (96 pts.)
