1990 Poniatowski Vouvray Aigle Blanc- France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray (4/13/2011)
Yellow gold. The nose shows honeysuckle, pineapple and some petrol. Beautiful and complex. Off- dry on the palate with a mix of honeyed lemon and green apple notes. Medium bodied with high acidity. Very refreshing mouthfeel here. Good length with some pineapple and tart white fruit lingering about.
This one has plenty of life ahead of it. Grab them if you see them!
Hearing that the Poniatowski family was selling the estate to Chidaine, which itself did not want to retain the cellar,
I grabbed several cases of the various versions of this wine before they hit retail stores, for less than $15 per bottle,
roughly four years ago. Lovely stuff.
