TN: 1990 Dott. Giacomo Damilano Barbaresco (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco)

I wanted to try this feature. Also, this is one of the only wines I’ve tasted which was unlisted on Cellartracker, so I guess it’s something of a curiosity. I think I bought this at Chambers Wines in NYC a few years ago. I should note that the condition of the bottle couldn’t have been better, with the fill well into the neck and the cork half-soaked.

Geosmin fault. Powerful beet juice nose overwhelms the bouquet. This is tart and acidic and still loaded with drying tannin. Plenty of years left to go based upon a barely-bricked rim and deep, dark red red color, but what’s the point? (79 pts.)
