    A stunning wine drinking exceptionally well right now. Just a tad of bricking at the edge but it looks like a 10 year old, not a 19 yearr old.

The nose is a wonderful mélange of smoke, cedar & a strong dose cassis with the fruit suggesting that there’s more to come. The palate is packed with dense deep red fruit and a deliciously long finish. The core is deep and still brooding but the fruit is so pure it makes you come to full attention. Impressively the tannins are still apparent but the final lingering impression is all about the fruit.

I’m really torn on what to do with my final bottle. Save for another 5-10 years of evolution (slam dunk in my view) or enjoy a truly great wine in the near term. Maybe I need to find more to backfill. (96 pts.)

I’ve had this wine a few times and it was always great.

I love this wine. FWIW, I liked the 1982 a lot more circa 2003 than I do circa 2009. If you think the 1990 drinks this great then drink up…

I’d have to agree with the previous opinions, DRINK IT!!! You can scrounge the boards for more if needed,

I am a big fan of Leoville Poyferre and 1990 is as good as it gets. I still have a few bottles but your notes will have me trying one soon. If stored well this wine will continue to hold but its not going to get much better than its drinking now.
