1990 Ch. Pibran (Pauillac Cru Bourgeois) – hadn’t popped one of these in ages so thought I’d try one. Clear limpid garnet colour, still reasonably deep, an instantly attractive nose of cassis fruit and vanilla, a smooth lifted entry and on palate, resolved tannins and a long smooth sweet finish, although it seemed to get simpler over a half hour or so. Drink them if you have them – as good as they will ever be!
There’s one we don’t see every day. Gotta figure the owners will eventually sell it to someone in the appellation who can get more money for the grapes under their brand.
2010 is wonderful…nice earth and olive notes…good qpr at $39
