1989 Henri Bourgeois – Sancerre – Cuvee Saint Charles
I bought this bottle from the store at the Domaine in 2007. It is an old vine cuvee that was picked on 04 November 1989, so a late harvest style due to the extraordinary vintage. 15% alcohol, a bright yellow colour. The nose is heavy with a blend of alcohol and sweetness. A few sips reveal a slightly off-dry sweet lemon curd profile with refreshing background acidity. A rare, pleasant wine that has held well over the years since I last drank it.
