TN: 1989 Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Marie Beurrier

  • 1989 Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Marie Beurrier - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (12/24/2008)
Dinner at Blue Marlin, Columbia, SC. Dark ruby in the glass. At first the tannins were searing but with time ( and with food ) the bite of the tannins subsided. Heavily perfumed with the pepper and garrigue so typical of CDP but at a level that was anything but ordinary and typical. With time in the glass this wine put on considerable weight and tremendous richness. Full bodied on the palate where the Grenache comes shining through with a very glyceral mouth feel. Long and intense finish. Great to drink now with a boundless potential for the future. 50+14+14+9+9 = 96+ (96 pts.)
