TN : 1989 Clos de Gamot Cahors

Local restaurant has a somm who regularly scours the backrooms of distributors and tweaks out odd gems. I just ask him to bring me something and always end up with something interesting.

Old wine bottle stink. Light in body with plum and malt notes. Mint-like core which dominates. Bright acids come out and a orane peel notes.clipped finish. Not deep or gasp-inducing, but solid aged and svelte expression.

I haven’t had a Cahors with that much age on it. The most I’ve gone out is about ten years. Sounds interesting if not overwhelming.
