12/18/2009: Had this with rack of lamb, preceeded by a Lobster Bisque and baby greens salad. The cork was wet from the bottom up as other TN’s have mentioned, but it was effortlessly removed. The wine is in its prime window, and I agree with others when they say it won’t get better. I think this wine is truly in the “Zone” for this wine and I would be consuming all I had over the next year or two. The tannin’s were all but gone, the nose had an earthy tone to it and the mouthfeel provided that silky smooth feeling of a well aged Bordeaux. Highly recommended. Drink up! Nice wine for a 5th Growth!(53 views)

12/18/2009: Had this wine as the second wine of the evening. Decanted one hour before and then back in the bottle to the restaurant, where it was put into a decanter for another hour approx. Wine has secondaries and sweet tannin’s and demonstrates that it still has years of life left. Just a slight hint of heat at the finish, but it was a long finish and the wine was pleasant in the mouthfeel. Oak flavors still somewhat pronounced and I believe this is one of the wines that will last for years to come and could improve with 3-5 more years on it. I remember years ago, I had this wine and felt it was very taninic and realized that it would have to hibernate for many years to come. I Overall , an excellent effort by Dominus. (77 views)
