1989 Chateau Pibran, Pauillac, Cru Bourgeois
Char and graphite give way to mild tobacco and a surprisingly youthful red/dark plum attack with subtle hints of cured olives and leather. Pleasing mild-to-moderate acidity. Appropriately integrated after its 22 year slumber. Attentive fruit and secondary notes pushing infront of its initial tertiary development. Steady midpalate and an attractively smooth finish. Relaxed tannins. Remarkably tasty compared to an advanced bottle opened over a year ago. Lovely performance for the level.
