1989 Château Beychevelle - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (11/8/2008)
Classic aromas of cassis, leather, cedar, and pencil shavings. As the evening wore on, sour cherries, coffee grinds, and autumn leaves emerged. Rich yet elegant on the palate with a long persistent finish. A complex and beautiful wine. Suckling got this one right. (92 pts.)
Beautiful wine in that vintage.
Had this at an '89 St. Julien dinner party I went to 2 weeks ago. Real nice wine, though the Leoville-Barton was my WOTN.
