1988 Ridge Zinfandel Park-Muscatine
Still some purple, but bricking is noticable. White cherries over-laid with lots of dustiness. While the palate still has some ripe red fruit, the pepper really shines to give some complexity to the very dusty palate. Interestingly, there is still some very noticeable drying tannins. The finish is a bit simple, but still has a nice amount of cherries to keep it from being dull. This is past its prime, but still a decent bottle and fun to try. For those interested, this is from Howell Mountain fruit and is 75% Zinfandel and 25% Petite Sirah and 24 barrels produced. 87 points.
