TN: 1985 Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne Brut Rosé Rare (France, Champagne)

  • 1985 Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne Brut Rosé Rare - France, Champagne (12/30/2010)
Disgorged in 2007. Lovely copper-pink color. Beautiful, mature nose of espresso, chocolate, brioche, dried cherry, and flowers. On the palate, tremendously complex, with a chocolate cherry note, flowers, yeasty richness, and a citrus undertone. Coupled with the mature characteristics is a delightful freshness, with vibrant acidity and a youthful sensibility. A very interesting wine that is drinking very well. Mature Champagne usually isn’t my cup of tea, but this certainly was an interesting and tasty bottle. A-/A
