Translucent red in the glass, with roses, funk and road tar on the nose. Even a little hint of menthol there at the end. Medium-to full-bodied on the palate, with a sweet, almost cherry liquer-like finish and a small dose of tannins on the enamel, all focused by some remaining bright acidity – very nice, probably fully mature, although given the winemaker, if it lasts another 10 or 15 years I won’t be surprised at all – whether my stash lasts that long is another thing entirely
Drool. Thanks, Bob. Nuthin’ like cru nebbiolo in its prime.
Where is the mouth watering smiley?
I was looking for the same thing, Michael. GMTA.
Now, that sounds like a great bottle of wine. I’m patiently waiting for my Conterno’s to reach maturity, though some days it seems like quite a ways away.
I should add to the stack of them, based on notes like this one.
Very nice,bad Bob.
Agreed. The 85s of almost any Barolo with good bones is drinking superbly.I know my 85s won’t last 10 years.
+1. Images of Homer simpson drooling came to my head right after reading this
I think this was the first G. Conterno wine that really made me stand up and take notice. Terrific wine!
