This was leaking dark sludge, had a low fill, and the cork came out in two pieces… only to reveal a beautiful, harmonious, and delicious wine. Gotta love the resilience of Riesling! In contrast to some notes, I found this wine youthful, vigorous, and ready for a long life ahead. Light-to-medium gold in the glass, this wine shows exotic fruits on the nose and follows up with a gorgeous, complete palate. Nothing stands out, but it is all there. You look for fruit and you find stone fruits, rich citrus, and spiced apple. You look for minerality and you find sweet honeyed stone. The acidity creates a surface tension, holding all of the pieces together in a complex, medium-bodied package that is delicate and light on its feet. This utterly effortless and eminently drinkable nectar is great on the surface but also rewards focused contemplation. (93 pts.)
