I had this a few years ago and loved it too:
*** Château la Lagune
Haut-Médoc 1982
Grand Cru Classé (3eme Cru)
11-14% (!)
12/30/12
Opened about one hour before drinking. Fill level low neck. Cork completely wet but intact.
C: Brownish red, no bricking.
N: Slight fruitiness.
P: Just loved this wine. Lovely, elegant, completely integrated wine. Complicated but unified flavor, compelling. No evident tannins. Strong without being at all rough or edgy. Medium length.
Ha, love seeing old threads resurrected!
Your drink very well, Brian! Cheers!
I remember this being delicious on release. For some reason, I chose not to buy it at $17 per.
I had 5-6 delicious bottles of this from 2006-2011.
I’ve been through most of the case I bought on release at the absurd price of $110 a case. It has always shown well throughout the years - always silky and velvet with good fruit. It is still holding well.
My notes;
-
1982 Château La Lagune - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (10/20/2013)
1982 Bordeaux dinner (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Drinking deliciously, sweet read fruits, lead pencil, leather, cedar, mushroom and earth. The nose is not unlike the others but a bit shier and more subtle. Silky palate and a hint of dry tannins as the end note. Drinking beautifully, no need to wait. (93 pts.)

1982 Château La Lagune - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (12/29/2011)
1982 Bordeaux dinner at Lavandou also bubblies, whites and stickies: I believe this came from the same cellar as my last note. Is it the bottle variation or is it me? I really loved this bottle and preferred over the other two in this flight for its expressive perfumed nose. The intoxicating nose displays fully matured sweet red fruits, lead pencil, leather, cedar, truffle and balsamico. In the palate everything has come together nicely, quite silky and ends with a hint of dry tannins that is not bothersome. A lovely wine, perhaps a bit more matured and at plateau compare to the others but drinking beautifully. (95 pts.)

1982 Château La Lagune - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (9/27/2011)
Mature Classified Growth Bordeaux gathering at Lavandou (Washington DC): Ripe red fruits, earth, mushroom, leather, iron and sap. It is very youthful but the fruit expression is not terribly complex. Good but not great. (92 pts.)

John:
It was better at $93 a case(futures).
I think we paid $84 at Calvert-Woodley, but it has been a long time.
But then Pichon Lalande 1982 was $110 a case….
$87 and change per case as futures at Soho Wines and Spirits in NYC, but I am sure that my entire case was consumed before 1995.
