1982 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto di Serralunga d’Alba - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (10/17/2009)
Gorgeous wine! Double decanted at 4pm and brought to Cafe Capriccio with my friend Tony. During the decanting it showed wonderful red fruit in the nose and mouth, but some pretty aggressive tannins.

Open for 2 hours: A beauty. Excellent structure and fruit. Cherries and that classic Giacosa fruitcake. Just gets better and better for 2 more hours. Especially good with steak. (94 pts.)

Yeah, this is one nice wine. I unfortunately drank the last one from my stash last year, but it does bring back good memories

FWIW there was a little left in the bottle and I’ve been out of town. It has mellowed quite wonderfully with 4 days on the counter!

Don’t you just love that - when a 27 year old wine continues to improve on Day 5?

Which means it’s going to peak when? 2057? 2082?

A wine like that will surely outlive its cork.
