Wow. An absolutely stunning bottle of Cabernet. I am always impressed with how well most Carneros Creek wines have aged, but this takes things to a whole new level. Probably a combination of premium fruit from Fay Vineyard, impeccable winemaking…and of course, a whole-lotta luck that the bottle was clearly stored incredibly well by whomever owned it originally. This is full of smokey red fruits and cassis, with fully integrated tannins and truly the perfect amount of acidity. This doesn’t taste old. It doesn’t taste young. It’s just a perfectly aged, medium bodied, glass full of joy. This has to be my wine of the year so far, and probably one of the best cabs I’ve ever had. Feeling very fortunate to have one more in the cellar. Life is good!

Fay! Presumably this is from before Stag’s Leap purchased it?

Gotta be right. Warren purchased Fay from Fay in ‘86.
I absolutely love wines from Fay! My favorite single vineyard Stags Leap Wine cellars makes.

Warren said he tasted wine from Fay made by Nathan Fay & it was so good he immediately bought the land right next door (what became the SLV Vineyard) which is where the judgement in Paris wines came from.
