1981 Bodegas Riojanas Rioja Monte Real Gran Reserva - Spain, La Rioja, Rioja (7/20/2014)
What a beautifully aromatic bottle of wine. It started out with dried flowers, leather, dust and cherries and over the evening picked up a very pretty spice element as well. Only medium bodied on the palate, so very easy to drink.

Yeah, this was awesome. Loved the aromatics - just kept developing and getting more fragrant with air, and it didn’t fare too badly with the pork.

did y’all open up some auslese with the pork butt?

An Auslese, a few Spats, plus a Texier Cote-Rotie. Was one of those nights where all the wines were hitting the spot.
